Metal Gear Rising: Retextureance (and Sega PC Petition)

I preordered Metal Gear Rising on Steam the day it just appeared. And I replayed initial levels a ton of times. I love that game from Platinum and I've started to work in a few textures for it. I don't know if the number of textures will grow over time, and I don't know if it will become a public mod. But ... here are some screenshots of the progress (wip, of course). This time there isn't a Dev Tool to change materials, add new assets and optimize/improve levels, so only exchange of textures and no more.

And I want to echo the petition to Sega that was originated on NeoGAF and has already run half the planet. A petition for more Sega PC ports. Games from Platinum like Bayonetta, Vanquish or sega classics like Virtua Fighter 5. Let's do it.

  3. ya que estas tomandote el trabajo de hacer estas texturas, seria tonto no sacarlas al publico para que otras personas puedan usarlas, ademas, son muy buenas, se nota bastante la diferencia.

    Ojala pongas una descarga de todo esto, para que mas personas puedan disfrutar de tu trabajo

    Question: do you have a way to put the textures back in the archives? I made a texture modification myself (ps buttons instead of 360) but I can only use it thorugh TexMod =/

    1. Hi, good eye dude!. Yes, that was a problem in my side because the game doesn't support more than 1 bit alpha mask for grass and tree leaves. Platinum fixed it using textures with few fine details and ugly black borders so they were visible from long distances but horrible in close ups. I was messing around a while with that problem and now I'm proud with new results. You will see soon.

  9. Nice work! Though eyebrows on the first screen look weird, too much contrast, and the black area around eyes is too big.

    1. I've reduced contrast in that texture and less black too. Was a work in progress texture as I said. :P

  10. Can you also make a better texture for the SKY?

    That looks pretty bad and low res.
    You can see patches or something on it.

  13. Maldo this looks excellent. However I have questions. Will blade mode be a problem with increased texture resolution? Blade mode at High Zangeki already slows down a bit after more I hit more than 600 parts.

    Also have you found a way to remove the fps lock entirely?

    1. Sounds like its just an problem with your PC.
      I have a GTX Titan and I can play the game on max and it never goes below 60fps.

  17. I fully support this MOD, been looking for something like this to happen. Well done. i'd touch up the characters most of all. with just that i would be happy.

    if all else fails and it becomes a burden, you can just reuse most of the rough normal maps for many of the ground and wall surfaces, instead of remastering whole textures; and just release that as a "HD texture pack -version 1.0" version 2.0 can come later.
